A couple network questions...

So a Couple things I have run into being new...learning curve can be a b#%@ch!

1. If I have a customer thats say with Farm Bureau and I know they use the SGC network, can I just call SGC directly and not the 800 claims number on the insurance card just to end up getting transferred?

2. Why wont the network ask me all the questions regarding policy numbers, make of vehicle ect ect? They tend to keep my customer on the phone for 10+ minutes asking them questions I could have simply gave them the answers too. Then they can just verify the customer, damage and time of damage.
(So what Im wanting to know is whats the most efficient way to handle the call with the network?)

3. Doing repairs after the network is closed. I had a repair yesterday at 8pm mountain time and tried to call SGC but they were closed. How would have you guys handled this?

Thanks for the help...Im learning alot but certainly could use some advice.

Your customer needs to call the 1800 number for their insurance company and ask for YOUR company to perform the work. There is no way around this!
As for after hours I would wait till the next day but that is just my opinion.
You better get use too jumping through hoops if you want to do insurance work!SGC will drive you crazy if you let them!

When you call the 800 number and follow the prompts for glass claims, you are being connected to SGC or whatever network handles the insurance company the customer has. They will answer with the insuarnce company name, but it is the network answering the phone. I tell them who I am and that I have a customer with me that needs glass repair. Most of the time they will take my info first and then talk to the customer and then I will get back on to get the claim number. The call usually only takes a couple of minutes unless you get a trainee. You may want to practice how you are going to make this call. I think it helps if you sound professional, not somebody inexperienced or trying to make a fake claim.

Sorry I can't thelp with the after hours thing, I don't work that late. If you know you are going to do one after hours try to get the claim done earlier. Maybe by three way conference call?

Thank you for the advice. So basically dealing with the networks is a "It is what it is." situation.

It does make it a little more difficult that they close so early(for my timezone)...but Ill work out a solution for those customers.

It appears the networks make all the rules and they usually fall in their favor...
