I'm new to wsr and will probably ask a lot of

Thats what is great about this forum. Tons of experience to draw from. Now my question. How do you reach breaks that are top center of a windshield? Small cars are no prob but there are a lot of suvs' and 4x4 here in the magnolia state. Thought about carrying a small ladder but that may create a balance issue. What to do?

Hey GT,
I'm still new too but I use a ladder all the time I've seen a nice one at wallyworld (wallmart) that looks good, costco has one too, (mine is an old 3 step wooden) I plan to upgrade soon, and just be carefull not to damage paint and be aware of where you put it in relation to the vehicle so as not to cause damage. Watch out for shifting etc....stay on solid ground with your ladder. I like to think of this as high tech,........ repair on, Scott

I use a step ladder. I tried one of the 2 step ones for a time and it just would not work with RV's and such. There is a balance problem though. I saw a ladder from little giant at a furniture store that the loaders used. They did not know where they got it. I put it next to my SUV and leaned over the hood. It was very stable. I just have not really tried to find it yet. I guess I may do that right now since I am on my computer and you made me think about it.

Have you tried the "hire a basketball player" approach?

Well I found the ladders. It is called a Little Giant MXZ Jumbo Safety Compact Step Ladder. Web address is:
http://kcwww.com/ladders/ljumbowing.htm
They cost about $200.00 I guess I am going to have to get off the computer and get out there and do some repair so I can afford one.

Personaly I just went down to Lowes and got one of their 10 dollar plastic step stools. Works great for getting to those hard to reach spots, Not if I have a chip thats really really high and I just can't get to it with my stool then I climb into the door well and fix it from there.

Many times I find that you can stand in the door well and easily reach these repairs on SUV's like Coister mentioned. If you do use a step stool or small ladder exercise some caution and try not to lean up against the fender. Metal is so things these days that the slightest pressure with your knee will surely pop a dent.

At that point you'll be asking this forum for PDR references
