I have been chasing this market for over a year now and not have found any one product or " system " that really works. Have tried 4 different products from company,s that I will name if Delta gives me the ok. All have great demo's and claims but produce average to ok results.
I have found from trial and error that you allmost allways have to wet sand starting at around 800 grit, work through 2500 grit, then go back and polish, very time consuming. GT sent me a VCD on the Polyhog and it did look good on tv, but I would like to see it in person to be convinced.
I am not saying it works or not because I have not tried it, just tired of spending money on stuff that looks good in a demo and delivers marginal results. Any of these companys that hawk this stuff should be willing to send a potential customer either a sample of their product or a money back guarantee.
You were at the MTE show and no one there had any kind guarantee with their products, I have tried them all and cant sell headlight repair service yet. The GT kit looked promising, would like to see it in person. Feel free to PM me on this, I am interested in this service.

I really would question whether its worth the hassle, expense, time and dirt involved to include this add-on. Would it really add an extra income that is worthy of those considerations.
Just my opinion, no offense intended to anyone who either carries out or intends to.

I have been polishing headlights for about 3 years now. The best products I have I discovered myself. I have spent money on kits sold by other companies and have been disappointed when they were no better or worse than what I already have. So I continue to use my home brewed system for now.
I like the look of this new GT system. Now I want to try it too.
I also want to try the bright solutions kit. It is the "chemical treatment" system, and I think it will be really good for certain types of headlight damage. They claim their stuff will keep the headlights clear for at least a year.
That's the real problem with doing headlights, besides the fact that sometimes it's a lot of work... how long will the lights stay looking good? For dealers, that's not a big deal, but for retail jobs it is. I am waiting to get a sample of a clearcoat product to apply to the polished lens. This will provide a permanent repair, if it works like it's supposed to.
Looks like I am too late to put together a good kit to sell as an add-on... now it seems a new kit hits the market every week. Two years ago you couldn't find anything...

Glass doctor, if you want a Bright Solutions kit I will sell you mine. Bought it at the MTE show in January and dont use it, looked like a pretty good kit compared to the rest.

Hello, Anyone tried the JANVIL products? I've been considering this (plastic head & tail light cleaning/polishing) as an add on. Thanks, Jim

I have the Janvil stuff and it works good, I have just not found anything that works great. Everything I have tried gets the lights around 80-85 % better but there has to be something out there to impress the customer with a great repair. I live in south Florida and the lights I see are pretty hammered, have to wet sand most to get them even close to looking good.

Ridge, imo the Janvil plastic polishes are good, but a good polish is not enough for most headlights. You need to either do a little fine sanding and then polish, or just go with a non-polishing system like the bright solutions stuff.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going to try JANVIL on my van headlights. Many, many years ago, when I was working on my first car ('41 Chevy business coupe),I used toothpaste, water & lots of elbow grease,to clean its tail, parking & interior lights. Worked OK but very labor intensive. Glassdoctor please let us know how the clear coat product works out. Jim
