Pit Resin advice needed

Hi all, I am having a few issues when finishing jobs off with Pit Resin, customers will call me up to say resin has fallen out after a couple of months. When I go to check the repair out to pit fill has broken away and on some occasions feels quite sharp. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Mark

Hi.
I often have the problem already when I scrape off after curing. Maybe my Resin is not good.
Got other Make of Resin today. Will see what it does. To get Resin from the US would be to
expensive for me. Bad Exchange Rate and high Transport Cost.
Regards
Flo

Mark, the pit should never "fall out". All resins will shrink a bit with time but you should not see any noticable change in just a couple of months. Possible causes off the top of my head:

Resin quality or contamination
Hydrophobic coatings - usually this would cause adhesion problems right away
Moisture not removed from damage prior to filling with resin

Hopefully others will chime in. There are no doubt more possible causes.

Flo, what country are you in?

I have had pit resin fall out too. Usually I have a problem after a year or two, not months. I blame this problem on extreme temperature changes in my area. If I have one fall out after a couple of months, I blame myself for not curing long enough. When you scrape the excess off it should be dry and powdery. If the excess resin you scrape off is soft and rubbery, you have not cured long enough.

Hi
I did 4 repairs Today and used crack Resin to fill the Pits.
Repairs look perfect. If this lasts I stay with it until I get
a better pit filler.
Now I have to get a better injector. Mine is wasting a lot of resin.
Needs like 10 drops to prime it.
Regards
Flo

Hi Flo,
For supplies, It might be worth trying a windscreen replacement company that's near to you who also advertise glass repairs. They might not be helpful, but it's worth a try.
