I use a company call sendoutcards I can send a thank you card or setup a campaign to send out thank you cards, birthday, Christmaas.. Etc... I can setup the campaign and leave it alone. The system does the rest for me. I can even send gifts. My customers (and my mom) love recieving brownies and all I did was click a few buttons. The biggest thing about marketing and getting referrals is to stay in front of your customers. I liked the system so well I actually became a distributor.
That is for referrals. I also use the local trading journal. $20 per month listed in the business section. I also post flyers on local public bulletin boards and business cards at gas stations.
I just closed my Small Engine Repair business to get back into WSR but with small engines I lettered the back of my mini-van window and I did get calls from it.
