Where to keep your supplies

Post by Zach's Glass »

With temp's in the 20"s will the resin freeze or break down? I keep my kit in my tool box on my truck. I have a file box in the cab where I keep my resin. I noticed this morning that the gallon of water I have in the back seat was half frozen. should I be concerned about the resin freezing. any suggestions. thanks Rosco

The resin is not your only concern ... the seals should remain plyable, but in extreme cold, they become hard and inflexible, and not as likely to provide the seal you need for good pressure/vacuum. Also, if you have hoses, those will be harder to work with. In addition, your UV lamp will not have the same output when it is cold. In general, cold equipment is harder, and less comfortable to work with. All around, sound wisdom is to keep your equipment in a warmer enviroment. Plus, in some areas, it just makes good sense to secure your tools indoors where there is less risk of them being stolen. In the parking lot where my hubby works, there was a break-in spree, and quite a few of his fellow workers suffered loss. He drives an old (1984 olds) car... looks like the grapes of wrath... so nobody bothers it much... but he is still careful about keeping stuff out of sight.

I did a repair yesterday and when I used the pit resin from one supplier...I cannot squeezed it out of the bottle. But fortunately, I still have the delta pit resins around and that flowed.
