Well in those questions lies the problem... first off if I can do just as good-a-repair with only say 11 rather than 25 inches of vaccuum does that mean my equipment is inferior. Now I have no idea what the pressure is on a Delta bridge, but I do know I can meet or beat anybodies repairs in the business bar none. So even if my equipment has less vaccuum it is still as good .. the problem with that question is that GlasWeld has created the problem and then offered the solution. Which is really a good marketing ploy but not totally true in it's assertion that 25 inches of vaccuum is required to do the best repair.
Question 2: Yes the air escapes it does not get pushed back in
Question 3: I have used several resins (sample bottles) and have honestly seen only consistency differences. In other words one was thicker than the other. I wouldn't even know how to compare anything else really.
Question 4: I have trained literally over 800 individuals how to do rock chips and probably a good 300 on how to sell the rock chips. If it took me 3 days to train someone how to do a rock chip I would not let them do my windshield. I do a very comprehensive 3 hour seminar on marketing and once you come out of it, if you have taken notes you should know how to sell this like a pro. I have sold just fine ... in fact some say better than most.... without any knowledge of WSR history or a single piece of insider industry info. To me a business is about doing an excellent job for an excellent price and being successful at not to great of a cost. Any of the industry junk or whatnot only detracts from the real focus which is sales and service... you should first learn to do .. then to communicate what you do to others. For that you need only a very cursory history, info like windshield repair started in the 70's back then the resin turned yellow and now with quality resins it has really gotten much better. As far as equipment training goes I could train a monkey to do rock chips in 3 days ... if it takes a person longer than 1 day to learn how to proficiently do a rock chip there is a severe problem. If there is more than 1 day on marketing training they need to shorten what they say and be more concise, unless they are actually taking you out to accounts and tent situations showing actual sales in action ... then several days could be used.
In Delta's 1 day training class there is about a 7 hour session of pure windshield repair techniques, in this session you learn to do stars, bullseyes, and cracks ... cold weather, hot weather indoors and outdoors. You learn why you do the actions and also why you should NOT do certain actions. Then when that is all done there is the marketing portion. In the marketing portion you learn where to find a tent, how to lease your spot, what kinds of fleets to look for , who to talk to at different size fleet accounts, how to approach people at tent locations, how to approach people for fleets, why a rock chip is free and how to explain that concept to your customers, how to close a sale, how to handle and prehandle objections and what type of equipment is needed to do a tent and fleet. That is a rough outline and incomplete but if you get more than that from GW I would be in awe and very surprised.

This has really become a USELESS thread to those who read this forum. I say get back to the technical aspects of doing windshield repair and drop the equipment judging process. BUY and USE what you believe will work best for you and become proficient with it! CASE CLOSED!

Sorry Ohunter, you asked for opinions from techs who use Glas-Weld but most of the posts came from people who know nothing about Glas-Weld. I have bought and used others Delta included only to go back to Glas-Weld because it's what I prefer.

These type of threads can get pretty heated. Unfortunately, when you ask about a certain brand of equipment, it usually is in comparison to something else.
CGlenn, if you truly wanted answers to those questions, email me or call me and i'd be happy to discuss the answers in depth.
Each person in this thread backed up their opinion with a reason. You or I may not agree with the reasons, but it's a step forward compared to some in the past. It did veer off at the end though.
