Magicogar, do your market reasearch carefully before quitting the day job. As an indicator add up what you are making part time, decide if you can get enough work to get you through the week. You would need 4-5 repairs a day without price cutting to equal what you have now, then it would be a good career move.

I love the thought of going fulltime.I work a 7 on, 7 off schedule so I am "fulltime" every other week.I have a Lady that works with me and can pretty well handle anything I can't get to when I'm on my "real" job. I love the feeling of working for myself, meeting people, and just going out and" Killing something and dragging it home" so to speak. My entrepreneural spirit could take over very easy. However I have to consider the benefits that my "real" job offers that add up quite significantly;such as the matching 401-k up to 6%,Health, life and disability insurance, 4 weeks paid vacation,a bonus or two every year, and just these last three days I had to use the 3 days bereavement leave with pay due to my wife's grandmother passing away.I wish the wsr business could replace all this for me, but at this time it can't.I will say that if anything happens to this job, I am in a position to do it fulltime and probably would not look for another job.Right now I feel almost as if I have the best of both worlds because I truly love both of my "jobs".
I'd strongly reccomend considering the value of all the benefits of your current job if this applies to you.

If you have the confidence and drive to do it, let yourself loose. I had a predominating health issue that effectivly ended my prevoius bussiness. The thing you need the most when getting into this full time is the drive to get up in the morning, and start working, the determination to keep going when the only response you get is no, and the intellegence to stop at 3 pm once you have made your $3-400, and go see your family and friends. Yes we may not have the saftey-net that a "real" job offers, but health-plans and retirement planning can be had outside a traditional job. What we do have is the freedom to work when we want-to and the freedom to relax when we need to, with a good plan, excellent customer service and a great attitude, sucess is your for the taking.

Merci

PS Like a few others I had snow to attend to instead of forum reading
