More Money, More Money!
More Money, More Money!
Hello all,
Just thought I would share a little story with you all. About a year ago now, as gas prices started to soar I thought I would take the opportunity to see if I could get away with a small price increase to my fleet and dealer accounts. This is a tough market I was a bit worried about the response I would get. But it worked! I made it a $2.00 increase some guys complained a little most of them didn

I tend to put in price increases without telling the customer I am doing it, very few notice and even fewer mention it. Does your grocer tell you when the price of groceries goes up never. Without price increase your income per job will drop eventualy as inflation goes up. You are very unlikely to lose any quality customer due to a small increase. Be brave try it.

I get faxes from the network managers informing me of price changes. I file them for future references.

Hello to all ...I'm new to the buisness and seem to spend the first hour
of my day on this forum! The info is great and I'm sure will save me alot
of problems in the field! My question is in reference to billing charges. Is
there a set charge that the insurance co,s expect to be billed (industry
standard) and also the car dealers expect a multiple car discount???
Discounts for cash on one or more repairs? I,ve heared that the standard
charge is $50.00 but I,m sure that depends on alot of variables. (If I'm
treading on sacred ground, please let me know.) Thanks in advance.

"CHIPS", when you call the number (usually toll-free) on the back of your customer's insurance I.D. card they will route your call to one of the networks (Safelite-a.k.a.: S.G.C.; or Lynx), usually after they've verified customer information and spoken with customer (and--in the case of S.G.C.-- tried to take them from you by steering them to a Safelite facility) they will then ask if you need to go over rates. Most insurance companies have rates set at $49.95+$10.ea. add'l.(ie. State Farm) to $59.95+$10.(Geico, Progressive). They will also fax you a dispatch sheet immediately after phone authorization which will list the price and also the dispatch # which you will need to include on your invoice when you mail or fax the invoice in later. As for dealerships or other fleets it just depends on how many other w.s. repair ppl. are in your area and how desperate they are for business and also how good a salesman you are (I think--mainly from reading other people's posts on this subject--most car dealers will try to get you to practically give-away chip repairs, you might be better-off trying other types of companies).

Thanks for the info...I'm in a relatively open area with only
one other tech (a friend of mine) that concentrates on his
dent repair buisness. I've been in sales for 25 plus years ..cars
jewlery ,Harleys etc so I have no problem with the sales issue,
I just want to be sure that I don't undercut myself in reguards to
industry standards. I'm going after fleet accounts (county, gov
postal etc) so I want to stay consistant. My car dealer friends
will use me as they have already expressed intrest.
Again...Thanks to all for your insight. CJB "CHIPS"

Re: More Money, More Money!
Since the discussion is about rates, if the local rate is $40.00 what is the accepted "wholesale" rate for fleets? What is the normal step down on retail and wholesale? :eusa_thin
Thanks
