Was just wondering what you techs are doing for thumb pressure on the stem of the injector when repairing.

I'm aware that light thumb pressure has to be used when in pressure cycle and for all of the cycles.
Now my question is:

Have any of you developed something to place on the injector for weight to simulate the pressure or do you just stand there and add pressure manually???

Would that be beneficial if there was something developed to go on top of the injector that was a weight of some sort? Any negative effects that it could have on the equipment? I couldn't think of any negative effects. It could save some time while you work on another vehicle.

It all depends what equipment you are using. The Delta Kits B300 bridge is spring loaded and you do not need pressure after the initial slight push to get it started. After that it runs itsself until you pull it into the vaccuum stage.

If you're using our bridge, the added pressure takes less than 5 seconds, so it's not something you need to sit and monitor.

Also, if you're using our injector, I recommend giving us a call for tech support!

Jeff, I ordered the B300 bridge assy and a bubble shield. It should be here on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to using the Delta System and retiring my other aging equipment, and someday hope to get factory trained and certified by Delta Kits.

Thanks for the resin samples a few weeks ago. The big thing I noticed right away is your resin smelled so much better than my other resin from another company. Just opeing my windshield repair kit would just about knock me over from the resin smell of my other supplier. I tried your resin on a few breaks this last week and love it.

Well i should have mentioned that I am indeed using the Delta Kits Injector that came with the Double Bridge system. I'm using all Delta Kits products here.

I just spoke to one of your Tech support guys today and was told to use thumb pressure on all the cycles so i'm very confused now!!!

I was told to initially when repairing to put it into pressure cycle with thumb pressure for 5 mins, then vacuum for 30 secs, then pressure cycle withi Added thumb pressure for 2-3mins, followed by vacuum and so on.

Can someone please clarify this for me?? So after the 1st initial pressure cycle with me standing there with thumb pressure I do NOT need to add any manual pressure on the 2nd and 3rd cycles for pressure???

Reason for asking this question in this post is that when repairing a car and i have another customers car come up I would like to work on both at the same time instead of standing there lightly adding pressure to the injector for so many cycles.

Ahhh i see what happened. Yes you do need to use "thumb" pressure to get it started then let it sit in that position (about halfway down ... do not ever let the 2 metal pieces meet) for 5 minutes. the pressure is kept constant and slightly increasing by the spring in the injector .. the thumb is only used for the initial push not the whole 5 minutes.

Ok so let me get this straight (sorry if I seem not to get it at first, im new to this) right when the injector gets screwed down in the injector body i put the injector into pressure cycle and give light thumb pressure to the stem of the injector for 5 minutes???? OR as reading from your post 'the thumb is only used for the initial push' so i only push it down for less than 5 minutes.

Then after the 2nd and 3rd cycle do I have to push down on the stem of the injector at all???

Sorry for all this confusion! Just want to clarify.

On first 5 min. pressure cycle, you will thread the injector til it stops, then simply push the injector 1/2 down, then leave it. As Brian was indicating, the spring action on the B300 will keep up the pressure. On subsequent pressure cycles, simply repeat the same steps. I have noticed that on 2nd or 3rd pressure cycles, the injector needs to be pushed slightly further each time as there is less resin actually in the cylinder on these cycles.

Don't worry about the questions, that's what we're all here for!

As Mr. Chips & Brian said...thread in the piston until it stops, drop it into the pressure cycle. Use your thumb to push down approx halfway, and then let it SIT for 5 minutes. No need to keep your thumb even remotely near it! :)

Also, every cycle, repeat that same procedure. Every cycle of every repair, you want to use your thumb to push the piston down approx. halfway. Once it's down though (about 5 seconds), you can remove your thumb and let the injector do it's work.

Sorry for the confusion, i'm going to have to talk to our tech guys about the language they're using!
