in the US it is illegal for agents to steer people to any company. they can get fined and lose their license for doing so. Kinda silly but it is the way it is.

So agents can't suggest a good repair source, but the companies can steer to there hearts content, a small revision of the system might be a good thing. I Quebec we have the same problem in the sense that the owners of the call center for a good number of insurance companies also owns(what a coincidence) the 3 largest chains of glass shops(the 3 chains compete against each other). If they can steer, so can the agents that are loosing reveneu due to over zealous replacement shops(sorry can't repair the break is larger than a dime, we must repalce, or my favorite excuse, oh yes we can repair it now but a repair is just a patch and it will crack out in less than a month, so you might as well get it replaced now, we'll pay half of your deduductable).

Merci

Blind Squirrel:

Lynx most likely would survive as they they have gotten into body shop work. Safelite as far as I know has nothing else to fall back on. They do have a relationship with atleast some fleet maintenance operations including GE Capitol.

However if the insurance companies cut back or eliminate repairs, there probably would be pink slips.

repair bonanza!!! 4 repairs for a dollar ,buy one get one free, boss is out of town $20 dollars!!LOL The bussiness would become very cheap to stay alive because there is only a few people out there that are any bit concerned about quality just concerned about price!
