State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
Re: State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
If I owned a replacement shop I could have a legitimate failed attempted repair on every raplacement I did for State Farm. It wouldn't be hard to do. Of course if State Farm were truthful in it's cost reporting, costs would skyrocket. Of course it would also make for a horrible repair record. This seems to be just begging for corruption.
Re: State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
Hi everyone,
I think your missing the target. I thinking that SF will wave the deduct. and pay us. If the repair fails they will then apply it to the deduct. A plus for us. That way it's easy to keep up with and cuts down on the replacements. That's what SF has been trying to do for the last 12 years. I don't see any thing in the memo to say it's "out of the customers pocket" and don't know any agent's (SF) that are saying it. Let me know what you think now.
thanks for reading,
vern

The title from Glassbytes is
I didn't put that up there I guess, but yes, it looks like they are not going to waive the deductible anymore.State Farm New Car Policy Language Will No Longer Waive Deductible for Auto Glass Repair
Delta Kits, Inc.
Re: State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
Hasn't that been SF's policy in the past to count the amount paid on a repair that failed towards the deductible on replacement. Then collect that amount from the shop who did the failed repair. I'm pretty sure that was the policy when I first signed up with SF so many years ago. Just pointing out that they wouldn't announce that as it is the way they have been doing it.

It could be very legitimate to have just about every repair turn to a discounted replacement. "I am going to repair your windshield first ... if after the repair is done it is not 100% or it doesn't meet your expectations we can not charge you but credit your deductible on the receipt for the $55 because it was unrepairable."
I can see some wording like that pretty easily happening.

I've been looking around and found this,
Windshield repair can save policyholders money. Any applicable glass or comprehensive deductible is waived. Repairing a windshield, rather than replacing it, also is less expensive -- helping keep comprehensive premiums down.
it's on state farms website.
Heres the link,

it may change but for now it's still good.

Re: State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
I believe this is just the beginning of ins. co's. way to slowly ween themselves from paying or covering glass repair and replacement. It may take a couple years but I believe they would like to see glass be like tires and brakes, and be non-insured. The good side to this will be no more tpa's, won't have to wait to get paid, and alot less stress and control by the ins industry! We are seeing more and more customers prefer to pay for repairs rather than run the risk of rates going up or being cancelled for claims. Yea I know it's not supposed to be like that but it is happening, we are adjusting to take care of our true customers, the ones who own the vehicle!
Re: State Farm To Announce Change In Deductible Handling in 5 States
I see this as a way to get paid right then and there rather than having to wait for the network to cut a check. I don't intend to jack up my rates but honestly State Farm is giving us all the ammo we need to justify charging $75 a pop for a repair. If the customer has anything over a $200 deductable $75 to save the shield would be a bargain for them!
This is absolutely not the horrible thing that some are making it out to be. It's going to make it easier for us int he long run if you just look at it the correct way.

AutoEgo,
I will agree with you that this change isn't a absolutely horrible thing. It may very possibly work to our benifit. However, I do think everybody needs to look at this change from more then one angle and openly discusses it. (positively or negatively) Do you actually believe for one minute that State Farm is doing this for our benifit? This is like one big poker game that they fully intend on winning.
We have at least 6 different players being effected by this change.
1. State Farm Insureds
2. Repair Only Owners
3. Repair/Replacement Owners
4. Repair Equipment and Supply Companies
5. Glass Replacement Suppliers
6. State Farm (plus every other auto insurance company watching to see what happens)
Everybody want's to win this game. State Farm just happened to be the first to show their hand. Put on your poker face guys and lets talk;)

Clyde If you get in an accident your tires and brakes, etc. are insured. If someone slashes your tires you are insured. If someone rips apart your dash or steals a radio you are insured....Clyde wrote:I believe this is just the beginning of ins. co's. way to slowly ween themselves from paying or covering glass repair and replacement.
