Popping a mini bullseye

Can anyone suggest the best depth to drill to, so as to achieve the best mini bullseye for opening up tight stars etc, or for stopping cracks. Too shallow & it needs a hefty punch to create a nice one......& possibly propogate the crack. Too deep & it just seems to fragment a too-small area of glass & doesn't open up the tight legs of stars.

Good question...I would go about halfway down the first layer. Tap it lightly. If it doesn't create a bullseye, go a bit farther. I wouldn't use a "hefty punch" for just the reason you mention. You can always drill a bit further, but if you go too far, it won't be effective, so go in small increments.

Get yourself a practice screen and drill and pop until you get comfortable. Depth is not an easy thing to covey over the net, but practice is the best teacher.

Thanks for the good advice. But, have you ever been here???
You decide not to drill then find it just aint working......& decide to drill & pop one. But aint resin one of the best lubricants in the world ???

One small tip from my experience......
If after screwing off the injector a quarter turn for your last pressure cycle.....you remove it & you still have a small black (air) area in there, try using a very fine pick to flex the pit a few times. It seems to use capilliary action to 'suck' resin in.
Correct me if doin' something dumb.....but it works for me.
