Yellow Pages

Post by scratchy »

We are having excellent results with the yellow pages in our area. Our new ad hit SBC recently and it paid for itself (the whole year) in the first 10 days. They also give a discount if you can pay the sum in one payment and new listings get a reduced rate to boot.
My advice is this. Open the book (or books for that matter) and see who is in there. Most WSR listings convey little to no useful information but a name and phone number. You can do better than that!!! Don't worry about the big block ads. You want to get in the LIST pushing YOUR WSR! You know where everybody is lined up one after the other? Put in a better ad and you will get 1st dibs (most likely) on any work coming out of the book.
We are getting a good spread of day calls, evening calls and weekend emergencies.
I have heard too many guys turn their nose up at the book and wanted to get the word out that it is working great here!
If you have any question on wording I can PM you back what my ad says.

Sounds very good Scratchy. What part of Texas are you in? I have heard people say yellow page ads are expensive... How much are they? I know I could just call and ask them but I'm feeling lazy !

I bought a single line ad with name and phone nbr in a phone book (white & yellow pgs) which covers my county for $180/yr. They also put my name/phone at YellowPages.com for free.

Thanks for the info Scratchy. I also visited it. It is good to know that a simple ad can produce those results. I like the web site. I want one too, justy can't bring myself to do it. Do you get any business from your site that you can tell?

CGlenn,
http://www.godaddy.com has a design-it-yourself website plan for $3.95 per month.

The website is 11.95 per month through yahoo hosting. It has been up for 5 months now. It will take some time to see what the payoff for this is going to be. The purpose is to educate the customer about who we are and what we can do for them. It also provides another outlet for them to be able to contact us.
