How to keep a star or bat wing from spreading

I was repairing a star break today and the legs started to run. I let up on the presure and that stoped it. But the legs would not fill all the way. Also was doing a batwing break and it to started to run. What am I doing wrong. Is it too much presure? If I back the injector off the resin starts to leak. Any sugestions would help.
