Did I screw up my windshield?
I recently had my hood painted and when I got home I realized there was a fair amount of overspray on the windshield. I figured I would get it off with a little gas on a cloth and some elbow grease. Probably not a great idea, but it seemed to work fairly well. Then I used some Mother's swirl remove/polish to get the rest off. It looks great, looking at it from outside the car. I did notice this morning that when the light hits it just right from the sun, it looks like there is a whole lot of "speckling" across the windshield, but only when viewed from the inside. It looks like just a bunch of bright tiny spots on the glass. Could I have damaged the glass by using the different types of "cleaners".

Re: Did I screw up my windshield?
I'd guess that what you are seeing are small pits in the windshield. Usually you will see these when looking into direct sunlight, like you mentioned. Most likely caused by road debris from vehicles in front of you or coming from other direction. Don't believe it was caused by cleaning the windshield.
The pits would show up more-so now because of the over spray which possibly got into the pits (will not be able to scrape them clean)
