I work at A.C.T. In Mass, people are not required to carry an ins. card...sorry GlassStarz...they probably needed it since they were out of their state. Now Mass. insurance claims are alittle different from a normal claim because the customer does not have a card. don't get scared off. as long as the customer knows who their ins. co. is...it sound weird but trust me, I have to search policy#'s all the time because people dont know their carrier...we can usually call the carrier and get their policy# by using one of the following or a combination of the following:

Full name, Home phone #, or SSAN
then we just process like normal

Thanks for the info Adam...My insurance guy tells me what we are required to cary in the car is our registration which has the insurance companies stamp on it. (For the state of Ma.) I guess from your responce that, generally, would be enough info for you to start the process...Yes?

According to ACT's info. sheet, "The average time to get claim approval is 10 minutes." If i were a customer and tech handed me the phone and i had to spend 10 minutes on the phone answering questions for a simple chip repair - I would not be happy! Please tell me how average customer responds after being subjected to this.

Who wouldnt rather spend 10 min instead of $50? they are on the phone while im working the chip they are standing there what else do they have to do 1. pay cash stand there and bug me while i take 15-20 minutes 2. talk on the phone stay out of my way while I work and get it free kind of a no brainer really. whether they call and get aprov or you send it through ACT it takes a couple minutes Act generaly takes less time because they have the system down.heck it takles 10 minutes to get a mcgreaseburger.

the average is 10min...it varriers between carriers...the quickest I have done a claim was just over 5 min...it was state farm...the longest was over and hour...but it was a long story...the average customer however will usually get alittle uneasy aroud the 9-min mark...I just keep telling them we are almost done...they may be upset when they are done, but they are still happy because it was free.

besides...the WSR takes about anywhere from 8-30 min depending on break size and # of breaks

Is there anyone who has recently singned up with ACT that does not have liability insurance?

The information I received from ACT stated that in order for me to get set up with them, that I will need liability insurance. But since this is a part-time business, I'm not sure that I can justify the cost of liability insurance if most my customers want to pay cash anyway.

for a.c.t. to be able to process claims for you, it is required that you have atleast liability ins...its not us...its the insurance companies.

We got RLI Ins for 175.00 annually. And you can sign up with out the Ins as we added it long after we were using ACT for Ins. billing. State Farm is the only carrier that requires proof of insurance to bill them and as they are getting out of the waiver process (paying for our services) I for one would not recomend adherence to their demands for proof of supporting them!!!!!(buying insurance) Or you could demand that they prove to support our industry by emailing you a picture of their repaired shield as proof before you'll do any work on their insured's shields saving them replacements!! :) Just my opinion :) Scott
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.
