Hi there,
Looking for tips and tricks to bolster business during the winter months! The work out there just dies in the winter months in Canada .. also any advice from any Americans in the colder climes would be appreciated. Thanks.
Winter WSR? Any Canadians out there?
Re: Winter WSR? Any Canadians out there?
Working in the Great White North is a challenge in the winter to say the least. Having a good dealer base is important to your survival, as well as offering above average service. One thing that helps during the winter is to have a expanded service offering for your customers. Appart from WSR we also offer, glass treatments(close to aquapel, but applied like a wax for penies per application), we charge $30 for the windshield, 60 for the whole car, 75 for minivans. This is a positive(WSR is a negatif service, they need you because of a mishap, treatmnets are positive because it's somethigh the customer wants)service for our customers as it helps with visibility and makes scraping less of a chore. The durability of my treatment is 3-6 months depending on the milage traveled(10-15,000 kms). Treatments are not a strong point for dealers but great for individuals(too get them hooked I offer the WS free with a chip repair). What keeps me at the dealers more often is polishing. I have developed my owm polishing system using diamond abrasives, and my franchisee's and I are finding to be an important part of our dealer business.
On the tech's side, dress warm, start the car and allow it to warm-up before starting a repair, spend some time on the forum doing archive research, remember the hot, humid days of summer, take the familly on a vacation(summer is time for work, not play, get a ski-doo, renovate the house, plan some strong spring marketing, keep busy.
Merci

Thank you to Yven Lacroix for the tips as well. Have a great day.

Why were you inquiering about winter repairs? We all know there is no winter in Toronto, just five months of slush, grey, wet, with the occaisional white break followed by a sunny break(I used to live in the Big Smoke, Hog town......).
Seriously, work hard now to take January off and go work in Vancouver, where winter is just a myth.......
If you have any other questions feel free to call me at 1 450 775 0508, I will do my best to help.
Merci

Winter in Niagara SUCKED last year... constant snow. I learned that starting the truck cost more than what I would make through the day. O well I here its going to be a warm fall
