Auction Rate
Auction Rate
I am getting a chance to do WSR only at an local auction. What are the normal WSR rates for Manheim auctions and is there any kick back. I ask about the KB because I currently do PDR at a independant auction and there is a 10% KB for PDR. Just asking so I won't look like a rookie when I go for the demo. Thanks Gary

Re: Auction Rate
You gotta figure if they let you earn $ on the grounds they will want a cut. They arent there for fun or charity they charge the Hot Dog guy to be there.
Re: Auction Rate
Thanks for your great insight Glassstarz but beleive it or not there are vendors that actually work at the auction and don't pay the auction a dime. I know because I work at two auctions and talk to these people. Ask the Triumph AG guy how much kick back he pays or the interior guy or the bumper guy. I will tell you NOTHING, NADA, ZIP. So please let those that work at an auction answer the question. Thanks

Re: Auction Rate
They may tell you that but I know one of the PDR guys who works there and he pays. In the auction/car buisness under the table is the norm and those guys are told if they want to keep working there to keep it hush. I spent many a day at the Manheim auctions in my 20+ years in the car buisness both as a buyer and seller and would like to think I have a better knowledge about what goes on at auction than most have slipped cash to the auctioneer to get my car placed in a good spot and payed to get the ones im interested placed in a bad draw. Its one of the reasons I left making $80k a year in the car buisness to do this.

"to do WSR only at an local auction"
I dont understand this. Please explain.
You do repairs on cars that are going to be auctioned off?
Thanks

Re: Auction Rate
Yes auto auctions and there clients, like Honda, GMAC, Bank one, Toyota, Nuvell, and the like have there cars windshields repaired rather then replaced. It falls under the heading of remarketing services such as Paintless dent repair, paint touch-up, bumper repair, and windshield repair it is all used depending on the client and how well the want to take care of there cars. It is a great way to make some quick money at a lower rate but a lot of volume.

Re: Auction Rate
You bet i have a couple dealers and a rental company that I do the repairs before they send em to the auction buyers like cars that need no work and pay more for them $35 on windshield repair might get them $400 more for the car at the block
Re: Auction Rate
Tyler,
Check with your local (friendly) used car dealer and ask him/her where the auctions take place in your neck of the woods.
