Delta Kits will be donating 5 percent of our product sales to the ongoing relief effort for damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
The tragic news of the hurricane has inspired us to get involved and give financial aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The 5 percent donation will be collected during the month of September.
Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross, with specific instructions that the funds be used for the Hurricane Katrina relief effort or victims. These donations will help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, counseling, and other assistance to those in need.
We urge our entire industry, if at all possible, to join Delta Kits in supporting these organizations that are providing relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Those wishing to help directly, you can donate directly to the American Red Cross at https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.asp

Re: Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort
I will ask everyone on this forum to pitch in a few bucks for a good cause. I sat through a cat 2 then a cat 3 hurricane last year and they were 2 weeks apart. We had no power for 2 weeks, unable to buy gas for 3 days, food for 5 days. I had a generator, grill, and 2 good fans, 92+ degrees every day, kids out of school for a month. I thought that was hell until Katrina rolled in, my experance is like a day at Disney compared to them.

My wife and I have already donated through the Red Cross, in addition to the Delta Kits thing...There are many other organizations though.
I encourage everyone to help out if they can, however small it might be...Every little bit helps.
Keep in mind, do your homework if you haven't heard of the organization. Never ceases to amaze me how people can come out of the woodwork to take advantage of the generosity of others...

Re: Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort
My wife works for the City of McKinney, TX. Friday she worked throughout the night processing 5 bus loads of displaced persons direct from New Orleans. Quite an experience and a priveledge.
All the people were nice - especially after having been on the busses for 36 hours. No problems. She has stories to tell. Many will make you cry.
Earlier in the day she and other city employees donated goods going to Hammond, LA. Had she known then what lie ahead, she would have held on to the donations for use within their own city. So, before sending clothing, etc. check to see if there are displaced persons within your own community who could use the donations.
