Crack test

Post by maxryde »

No I don't meat the drug!!

One of my regular customers had a chip that rapily spread the other day, before we could even get over there it was a foot long!! Well the repair went well and two days later another one of the guys there called and had a chip,
(not their week) so I proceed to go do the repair and the guy with the crack shows up to tell me that the crack repair had passed the stress test. I asked what he was talking about and he said that he had hit a flock of birds the day after we had done the repair and that when he cleaned the blood off he expected the WS to be toast. Not only had the crack repair held but he was suprised the birds hadn't come on thru the shield (his words). I was impressed I must say, our budget dosn't allow for the kind of tests that would give us the first hand knowledge of repair strengths etc.. so I guess I'll just have to go with what the MFG'S tell me untill we get another feild test done by one of our consumer's!! :) Have a productive day. Hi Maxryde,

Nice story you've posted there. It could well be a stupid question, but which system do you use?

Well it's not stupid per say, I don't think gear is the issue rather resin. I use delta equipment and a # of different suppliers for resin. I believe the crack in question was repaired with magnibond or polylite. From my understanding the resin MFG's supply all of the retailers with their own recipe. (flavor) I have had excellent results with both of the resins mentioned as well as others. I hope this answers your question? Scott
