Allergic Reaction To Resin
Re: Allergic Reaction To Resin
Has anyone had an allergic reaction to any of the resins? How long does it take for the reaction to show up and what did it feel like or look like? Does it show up right away or after a period of time?
Re: Allergic Reaction To Resin
I had a problem and still have a problem with resin reaction.I use Gt.resin and still the problem persist also wear nitrile gloves sometimes. Gt.resin is not acid free. It's time for somebody to come out with a true acid free resin that really works. It takes a couple of weeks for the reaction to occur usually you will see little specks on your finger tips that look like freckels and then the skin will start to peel.Look up Resin Reaction in the search and you will find somemore info. Also everthing I have found on nitrile gloves says it does not protect against acrylic acid contact and Derma-Shield I think made things worse.Souchie

Re: Allergic Reaction To Resin
In the recent past I found that I was beginning to have a reaction to resin. It first showed up following a session of cleaning my gear. I was exposed to the cleaning jar that had denatured alcohol and a fair amt of resin. First change your alcohol frequently!! I learned the hard way!! Better yet AVOID exposure to any amt of resin thru the use of nerile gloves, I couple this with hand lotion, you can use the dermashield if you like (the added protection is a help to those folks who have issues with tolerating gloves etc...) The thing is for me I have been using a variety of chemicals for a very long time and seldom have had problems due to exposeure. The resin we use is designed to penitrate small cracks and crevasses in glass. Guess what it does a fair job of getting into your pores too. After seeping in it then HARDENS!! What a wonderfull thing!! It performs as designed and we are able to avoid exposure so my thought is, Why would you not want to protect your self? I was poo pooing the glove thing before but then I had issues so no more!!! I cannot stress the protection issue enough, just do it and you'll be glad you did!! Gotta go, Scott
