"Black Magic"

Post by boyd »

Someone the other week was talking about the Premeir Paint 2000 system so I looked into it. I bought a sample kit of the Plastic restorer to try on my wifes Ford Explorer 1995. Many vehicles today have black plastic on them them fades to a dull gray. Look around and you will see them everywhere. Especially the Avalanches, Jeeps, Explorers. I'm talking about anything that is black and plastic. Mirrors, door handles, bumper protectors, trim etc ... Well I did my wifes car like I said. Wow !! I cannot express the difference. It looks brand new and makes the paint look brighter. If you are looking for an add on I would highly reccommend trying the product. It costs around 35$ for a bottle that I probably used 1/5 of to do my vehicle. Later that day I was doing a w/s and ... you guessed it I made 25$ for doing an Escalade's rear bumber. The people had spilled wax on it. I used the cleaner to clean the wax and "dyed" it back. People this stuff is for real. I've been doing w/s for 12 years and have a good business. I'm not getting into this becasue I really don't have time. But ... it was fun and I can help a friend or car lot when they need it. It makes a dramatic difference in the vehicle. Look into it.

Did you call for your order or do they have an order page on the website anywhere? Thanks

Sounds good.

How long does the treatment last?

I sure wouldn't be charging people until I see proof that it lasts a long time... not just a few weeks, etc.

I called them. I wanted to talk to the people and understand the appplication process. I also did my car so I could see how long it lasted. I left about a 6" area (not treated) so I could compare for later months, which my wife really appreciates : )
To answer the question of length ... they guarantee 4 months. I think it will last longer. I got some of the stuff on my fingers and it was hard to get off.
It would be great if it was a permament application. I have a hard time beleiving it will only go 4 months. I'm guessing 9 months. Body shops, detailing people should love it. And so should used car managers. I think the time is fair based on how fast new plastic fades. I've seen cars only 2 years old that have already changed thier color to a dark gray.
You can try it for the price of one repair job. Or go to the web-site. They show before and after pic's that are very realistic and not exagerated. I'm waiting to see how it fades. Does it gradually fade, peel off or come off in chips. The later two are not good of course.
Send me a e-mail in a few months and I'll let you know. I put in on Explorer on 11/11.
Good luck.

Glassdoc. You're right about not charging until you know the product. However, I had just applied the product at about 9 am. I received a call from a used car dealer about a w/s. While I was there I said "let me show you what I did a few hours ago". I showed him my car. He said "come here, do you think it will do the same to this Escalade?" I said "it should do you want me to try?" He said yes. I let him know I had just got the product about 4 hours ago. It turned out looking great! It comes with a cleaner to get the wax out of the plastic. How many cars have you seen where the clean up man gets the buffer on the plastic and it embeds the wax into the plastic? This is what happend here. The cleaner got the wax out then I applied this condioner/dye.

Cool.

6 months+ I think is fair enough. It would be nice if it did a good job for a full year, as a selling point.

Of course that's for reatil jobs. Car dealers is a different game. As long as the dealer is happy and it gets the car off the lot, that's all that matters really.

Plastic bumpers with wax/buff marks... yeah we've seen that a few times... :)

I use thier product I carry both the clear and black most are done with cleaning and the clear seldom do I do the black. While at thier plant In lenexa I was shown a vehicle that had been treated a couple years ago it still looked good. They tell the customer since it is a actual plastic coating not a conditioner it really should last at least a year. No special care just avoid hitting it with the high pressure sprayer at close proximity. I did a focus today with a add on sale of $35 for the plastic and a Impala for $40 easy to do while waiting for the injector to work you can speed the drying with a heat gun if you are in a hurry. The guys there are great help and also push Delta products as thier WR system of choice. Thier Clean and Clear system for scratch removal and headlight restoration is great as well

Good product for trim but for bumpers Sems dyes are best. Yeah ya have to tape and spray but it does not take much prep work and the results will last.

trimonex.com
I have tried the SEM dyes and have to differ Trimonex works quickly and looks like the bumper came out of the Showroom and has the proper shine unlike the SEM products if I have minor scuffs or gouges I hit it with a fine sandpaper briefly then clean and coat
