did you guy's see the do-it yourself windshield repair kit that is being sold at Wal-mart by the makers of fix-a-flat, it looks kind of cheesy, has any one ever used this type of kit?

No but I have seen many chips done with it that were not at all repaired and nothing could be done to correct. All it does is put a soft glob of glue in the point of impact that blocks any chanch of removing air and injucting resin. You can easily tell by the yellow shrinking from the edge of hole and tapping the glass with probe and then the glob. Glass is solid sound while glob is soft.

What gets me though is many times I encounter it, people swear they have not used it or had previous repair.
Does this happen to many of you?

Wal-mart has sold it for years, I bought one to carry in the motor home "just in case" before I got into the business, thankful I never used it.

Also, I've heard many times the fix-a-flat product is hated by tire repair people for safety reasons when a tire is dismounted.

Do it yourself kits have been around forever ..this is the land of choice
and while some people have tried the kits the vast majority of people
would rather have it done professionally.. and yes graybeard 2 months ago
i went to a job site and the repair was tried by a kit and the customer
finally admitted to it..there is enough glass repairs out there so don't worry

I personally think its garbage! Have seen people purchase those kind of kits and its terrible. Might work for some people but I myself would not touch it.

They also sell "do it yourself" window tinting. How many of those have you laughed at? Most people will only make that mistake once.

Do they include the Ginsue knives and bamboo steamer with that(You young folks can ignore this message), or do you just get the pocket fisherman for 5 equal payments in this special ...........?

I am sure if they sold a do-it yourself apendectamy kit on E-bay, some-one would buy it. but personally I am rather satisfied with the job the Dr. did, so I would not recomend a do-it yourself kit.

Enjoy
