Who is not happy with the WSR industry and why?

Post by SGT »

Thought I would throw this out there. Who is not happy with the WSR industry? Sure there are many many things to be less than happy with but there is room for improvement in all aspects of life. Right? With that said, I do have one criteria for all responders to stick to. If you post a complaint make sure you post a proposed solution. I bet we can come up with some great reponses. In the end maybe we can't fix the industry but we might be able to fix things on a local level. Put you thinking caps on and contribute to your fellow WSR technicians.

Pay it forward,
Brian

Blind Squirrel,

Very good point. You are right the cost of doing mobile business is going up. We also have decreased our service area. In my area of the country $65.00 repair does not cut it when you drive say 30 min one way, spend up to 30 min to repair, 30 min to drive back, plus gas $2.39gal. and vehicle where and tear over time adds up. Sure you could try to schedule more repairs on that day in that area and that would be great but at least for us are call are always all over.

The best is when you prequalify the damage over the phone and the customer says the right things and ultimately they were wrong. You can't be mad at them but at the same time try charging them service fee. It does not fly but call a plumber a see what the service fee is! I think that is becuase people do not associate the same importance to there windshield. Some might say this is just the cost of doing business but I say that is not smart business.

Anyone else have issues to share!

For those that are members of LYNX or "METRYX" will know what I'm talking about.
When recieving a call from LYNX my first question now is, "where does the insured live?" My blood already starts to boil because I know what the answer will be. LYNX gives a zip code instead of the city name! Well, while I'm driving down the highway or just starting my repair maybe I should pull out my list of zip codes to see where the hech the insured lives by matching the zip code to a city.
I've called LYNX regarding this problem but of course it will not change. I knew this was going to be a problem when filling out the METRYX application using zip codes for the area which I service.

Very good question, we need an industry, not a collection of individuals doing what they can. What this "industry" needs is a wake up call. We need regulations that gouvern repair quality and warrenty. We need a unified front to be adequatly represented to the public. We need a leader(s) to stand up and unite us into the market force that we can be. We need brand awareness. We need for people to know what we can do. We need to purge the system of fly-by-night opperators. We need proper training(not just repair but marketing, sales techniques, customer service, and business skills). We need to be able to face the loss of insurance income(and that can't come soon enough). We need debates like this. We need a change.

Let the games begin
