Hello All,
Wanted to see how many of us are there (repair only) in PA. If there are enough in close range maybe we could set up a "Round Table" meeting to network. I am located in Northeast PA near the NJ border. Any shops interested?
Pay it forward,
Brian

Re: Calling All PA WSR Technicians
Hello SGT and to anybody else with some input with this matter..
First off I just want to say great website. Now I have a few questions as far as a cracked w/s. I was told that my cracked w/s couldn't be fixed at all. So the tech tells me that it's not actually cracked it's crushed. I'm wondering have you ever heard such a thing and is this possible. Let me describe the so called crushed w/s. First things first, it's on the passenger side and about middle of windshield just slightly higher than middle. Now there is no legs nor has it spidered or anything, and it's slightly bigger than a quarter round. Please with your professional opinion, What can I do as far as further repair. P.S. The tech that told me it's crushed with glass inside and he can't repair the w/s, wouldn't he attempt to fix it or even try to get the glass out and make it look better. I mean it can't get worse after his effort. Right?

Jarhead4life,
The "smash" repair may be repairable. First, check for loose glass with your probe. My experience has been that there's a lot of loose glass and the pit area will be larger than the injector seal. I've had to build (layer) up the pit area carefully so as not to close off any cracks. Be patient. I've had some turn out really nice. Let the customer know that it's a bad break and some distortion will remain when finished.

Well thanks for you Info on my w/s, but I am not a tech or have a clue how to fix my problem.. I was just asking how to fix my w/s if can be fixed at all. But on the same line im working on being a w/s repair tech but taking my time for this. If you read my other thread called " Need a good trainer" which was posted 1 day ago, you will see that i'm begining the process of becoming a Tech. But thank you anyway for your reply. Re: Calling All PA WSR Technicians
These types of questions are hard to answer becuase they are very speculative from our side. We can not actually see what you are describing, so it is all interpertation. You ask is it possible to have a crushed outter layer of your windshield. Sure it is. It is also possible to have a stone chip that could be precieved as crushed glass such as a flower break. These are repairable in most cases. If the damage extends into the inner layer of glass well then I would say it is not repairable. If the technician already attempted a repair more than likely it is not re-repairable. I answered the best that I could based on what I thought you were saying. Good luck.
