Its tax time and the numbers in my lettuce patch were a bit suprising. Insurance work was down about 25% and cash repairs nearly doubled over 2004. Buying bulk supplies made a heck of a lot of sense regarding profitability. Thank you Delta for offering this option!!

A step in the right direction, moving away fron insurance jobs is insuring your future. If all goes well we should be free of the insurance companies in a few years. There goal is to drop insuring glass, and with the advent of the customer having to pay to replace, they will be more vigilant when it comes to repairing when the break happens.

I just tallied up my customers. 53% insurance, 35% cash & 12% dealer. Not enough jobs to invest in bulk supplies, yet.

I have to admit that I am going to try and dissuade customers from going through insurance and as well insurance people might start to like that little repair shop in watford and maybe brokers will referr some bizz to me.3 months waiting for my money is going to be hard to ride through in my first year of bizz. Don't you agree Ivan?

Hey guys ..if its not to personal I wouldn' t mind if some of you could PM me with some truethfull earnings figures for this year as I am pulling out all the stops here to get this windshield repair & PDR bizz going later this year.(mortgage,buying small cheap repairable garage down the street,retirement savings,software,renovations,equipment etc.) Yes I think I have a shot at it(18yrs autobody repairman,slight market research looking positive here,wife behind me,etc)

It doesn't take 3 months to get paid from Insurance Companies. My estimate is maybe 1% would pay in longer than 4-5 weeks, with probably 75 percent paying in about 3 weeks or less.

We do a fare share of insurance. I am paid withing 5 to seven days. I am a member of safelite and lynx. I am averaging about 1 to 2 calls a week just from them. Dawn

Things must have changed since I got out of the autobody industry 4 yrs ago because up here in ontario when we sent the repair bill in to ins' co. they would hold your money as long as they could . there was exceptions to the rule though. Don't you have the same situation up in Quebec Yvan?

Here the ins co's take 2-3 months to pay, they like playing with our money I guess. But since insurance work acounts for less than 1% of our income, it,s not a concern.
