My business card

Post by Mike Allen »

So please tell me what you think.
Brian, the designer, is in my car club at http://www.contour.org and I believe he does excellent work. It didn't take all that long to do this project. He is very professional, prompt and very easy to work with. I would reccomend him to anyone needing cards.

The front just gives out my information and the reverse shows the common rock chips. My thinking was that the client will see that and instantly recognize what I'm all about and would hopefully have some on his ride. Plus, it allows me to have room to write information for the customer.
Annapolis is "A drinking town with a sailing problem." When the weather is nice the waters fill up with sailboats so it's an obvious tie-in to the local economy. well to me anyway and I love the water too so I'm not being fake about it.

Nice card Mike! Keep the enthusiazism high! I was down in area last night attending a political function. Lots of people need repairs. Send me a few cards when you have them printed and I will hand them out when needed.

Great work!

I like it a lot. If you removed the e-mail address from the front they would be a lot easier to read. You might want to list your phone in a more conventional matter. Parentheses are around the area code and a dash between the local exchange and number. You number would stick out a little more that way. Sorry to criticize, I do like it the way it is. The logo with the sail on the windshield is genius.

Card looks professional but here are a few nit picky comments:

1) Consider registering a domain and use the domain in the email address. Uing a free gmail account might not send the right message to customers.

2) I would drop the notary. Nothing wrong with cross selling services but I would not want my customers confused by what I do. You can always hand them a second card for notary services after you meet them.

3) It might be too much but I would consider a tag line in the Mustang window...i.e. "Save Money By Repairing" or whatever.

Overall I like the colors and look. Nice Job!

Very nice card. I'm not too keen on the email address that goes diagnal across the card and I think you should have your own email address. Something like "Mike@AllensAGR.com".

If you or anyone else would like to have your own email address like that and don't know how, let me know and I'll help you set it up. I think it looks way more professional to have your email address be your business name or something close to it.

Nice Card. I like everything about it. I think the suggestion for a tag line on the mustang window is good idea too.....Funny seems nobody realizes that the email address written diagonal accross the business card was put there on purpose by the designer to keep someone from using the design without paying for it. It won't be there when he prints the card.

I was amazed about what was written on the business card as your title more than anything else! You are an auto glass repair professional and a Notary Public on the side eh?! Talk about diversity, thats great!!

Thanks for the great constructive criticism everyone.

Jeff, I apologize about the e-mail, didn't really think about it.

Tim, thanks for the compliment. I should have some cards after the first. I'm on vacation now so it will be a little bit.

The e-mail across the card is indeed not my own but that of the designer. That won't be there in the final print.
As for the logo, that was Brian. I told him that I wanted to incorporate a few things about this area so that folks will know that I am from here and know that I have a love for the water just as they do. I call it, "Subliminal target marketing":eusa_shhh :)

I'm also an Active Duty Air Force Flight Attendant working for our nations leaders. And taking culinary classes on the side when I can to be a better FA and prepare for the day that I own my own restaraunt. I've found myself very busy this last year and getting busier by the day it seems. And I'm also dabbling in SCCA Autocross in hopes that I will grow into a weekend racer deal on some tracks around here. I can't forget the new young lady in my life either, Amy. Alot of things have been getting better since I met her and I hope that she sticks around for awhile. Somethings gotta give one day but until then I'll be living it up and dreaming big.

JAC - can you PM me about the domain? The only reason I'm not getting a site just yet is because this is part time for me and I don't see it as being very cost effective for me. Maybe you could enlighten me more on this.

EDIT: I'm on the right.
