A genarl how to question
A genarl how to question
When those of you that have fleet accounts approach the personel, what is it that you say? And who is it that you are going to? Do you just walk intoUsed cars R US and say, "Hey, I want to repair your broken glass?" Is there an agreement that they sign?
Re: A genarl how to question
Many of our accounts are with dealers. You need to be neat and concise. Make sure you speak with the manager, and have a card in hand. Don

I agree with dingmedic here ask to speak to the Used car sales MGR or whomever is in charge of used car sales maint/prep. Then don't show up at 7 am on a monday or Friday pitching a new prospect. their usually putting the pieces together from or for the weekend. Friday is less of a problem. By tuesday the trades have been sorted out and anything that they are going to retain for resale is back from detail then you get a crack at them..... while this stuff goe's on all the time i found that timing can make a difference. Just because you get the brush the first couple of times you need to continue to show an interest and eventually they will give you a chance. Remember the dealers are in with each other and when one uses you they all see your work thru the eyes of that individual!!!
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

You have alot of the same questions I have Trinsic. Thank you. I think the dealers are my stepping stone to leaving my job and pursuing this full-time. I have to take a day off of work to get to the dealer at a good time and offer my services. In the beginning I hope to build the business and do weekends at the dealers. Once the weekend fills up I should be able to scrape by on that income and pursue it full-time. In theory. remember I'm new so I could be way off base.

Re: A genarl how to question
Most of the dealers that I know do NOT want any vendors on the lot during the weekends. This makes sense has more people are out looking and they don't want them to see glass being fixed, paint touchups and dents taken out. They prefer to be worked during the week and most will want the cars being worked on to be driven around back or away from the general public. Could be different where you are though.
