Cheap advertising for a good cause.
Cheap advertising for a good cause.
I came up with this yesterday. I brought my daughter to Burger King (mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm flame broiled cholesterol) and was asked to buy a shamrock for muscular distrophy. Im sure you've seen these or something similiar, you pay a dollar (which goes to charity) then they give you a paper shamrock, heart, ballon or whatever shape with a blank space to put your name. When filled in it reads "this shamrock for Muscular Distrophy donated from the kind hear of -blank-". Now as we sat down to eat i found myself reading the names on all the ones hanging around the resturaunt and it hit me.Since you get to put whatever you want on it, I'm going to get some sticker paper for my printer and since i print my own business cards I'm going to print a run of them on sticker paper and keep them with me. Since my business card is eye catching and everyone else just writes their name in marker it's great advertising in a high traffic area for a dollar which goes directly to a great cause (win, win as I see it) even if no one calls my company name will still be in the recesses of the publics mind, my diabolical plan to earn a living is almost complete HA HA HA HA HA!!!

Bill, I saw the same shamrocks and began reading names while I was in line at the grocers yesterday.
I think it is a GREAT idea and if you only convert one repair into a donation what a fine way to support a worthy cause!!!!! :eusa_clap
I hope you get a few jobs as a result of your efforts!!!!

My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!
While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

I have seen folks do ths in an even more "diabolical" manner.
Rather than just buying one shamrock, they buy as many as will fit their business name, one word per shamrock, plus a few extra.
Then, using a really brite marker, they post a star - their - business - name - star and voila! An inexpensive billboard is born!

No trying to rain on your parade, but I don't view such "advertising" in a favorable way, and I assume I'm not the only one.
IMO it looks cheap and kinda shameless

I wouldn't look or think of it as strictly a cheap advertising. I would think of it as a way to let your community know that you are involved and support things in your local community. Now if some happen to want to do business with you after that because they remember your name, well that's another plus on top of helping out whatever charity you donate to.
