Safelite Refusal
How about this. We were always opposed to network dealings. We decided to come on board and embrace this new mind set. So we have affiliated with Harmon and Netcost(They let us tailor our contract to more favorable agreement) The amount of work is trickeling in but have to give it more time to evaluate these two networks. They seem very independent friendly. Lynx on the other hand would not budge on there contracts.(They have been sending us more repairs than the others). Strictly business with these guys.
Now for the Safelite folks. We submitted all paperwork only to get a letter in the mail that they declined us but would put us in there database for customer preference selections. The reason being that in my area they already had enough shops that they were happy with the quanity and quality of the work they were doing.
Being from the east coast I tend to be a little more presistant about things. So I called and spoke with the regional manager about this. He was concerned that I would want to start replacing glass in the near future. Once I explained that in our area there are glass shops that do repair but there are very few if any in some areas that strictly do mobile professional repair, he was was then onboard. I have my own reasons why I think they were concerned about our shop doing replacements but I will keep that to myself. You never know who is reading!!!!! Anyway we are in.
The moral here is, if they reject you, push them a little and make them feel like they have something to gain from your affiliation.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?

How do you receive the jobs from LYNX? fax, e-mail, or business phone?

For Lynx we always get a call but it is followed up with a faxed job assignment with customer details.

Re: Safelite Refusal
I got the same letter from shaftlite about 2 years ago. Who cares? My business would run without the networks.
Re: Safelite Refusal
Hmmm---Just recently I complained to them that on their website they waited almost 4 weeks before submitting my approved invoice to the insurance company. They did not reply to my complaint but submitted my invoice the next day. It ain't surprising that they have not referred any jobs to me since. This lends lots of credibility to the stories that I read in this and other forums.
Re: Safelite Refusal
I have been an accepted member of safelite for about 2 months now and as yet have not recieved 1 job from them. Lynx send me on average 5-8 jobs a month and that has turned into much more work because of the referrals I've recieved and even though I've only been doing this for six months am getting return customers already. I just got on with Harmon and another small one. Word of mouth and the networks is my customer base right now as I have a full time job also. I have never had a problem getting p[aid, at least not a huge problem. Sometimes their fax doesn't come through. Some of these insurance companies pay 60 for first and 15 for each additional. Fix three chips and thats $90. Not bad for 20-30 minutes work

Re: Safelite Refusal
you have to figure if they own a nationwide replacement and repair company why would the refer anyone to you? simple math if the dont have anyone near you the put you on the fantasy referal list if the do you dont make the list' You may still repair thier customers vehicles and be paid by them just wont recieve any referals which you were mot likley to get anyway so who cares?
Re: Safelite Refusal
so, am I to understand that some of you are upset because Safelite isn't giving you some of their business, or is there something I'm not catching in this? I thought that was called fair business. You want business, you go get it not wait for handouts......I guess I'm not fully understanding what the complaining is about.

Glassman SGC,
Just for clarification, there is not a complaint on our side, we were trying to make a point that you need to be persistant sometimes to get what you want. If the thread has taken a different direction then I guess people missed our point. Either way, even though we have adopted a new out look towards the networks, we all should know we wont get rich from any one of them, and that you only get out of this business what you put into it. I do not think anyone is necessarily looking for a handout. These vendor affiliations are not just one way streets as we help them as well. It should be a win-win.

Re: Safelite Refusal
I have the same problem all of you have.. I don't ever receive any referalls from Safelite. I've been in the business for 5 yrs and I may have gotten 1 referall. They have a safelite office 90 miles from my city and they usually make the customer wait 2 or 3 days so they can do the repair. I asked them why don't they just let me do the repairs since i'm only minutes away from the customers. Of course they have no answer for me. They need to send the work to local wsp shops. You can file a complaint w/ safelite in order to receive more referalls, but i don't think it will matter. They are just greedy that's all.
