semi glass
semi glass
I was wondering if glass is different on semi trucks and if it is different what you need to do differently for a good repair?

Re: semi glass
Semi glass is the same as any other.
When people ask about semi glass, they usually mean one of two things. Actual trucks, or the fact that some of these trucks have vertical windshields. So, semi glass is the same stuff, but sometimes there are other techniques when glass is vertical.

Re: semi glass
The glass on semi's is a little thicker than on automobiles so if you have to drill and pop a bullseye you have to drill a little deeper than on auto glass. Once you do this a few times you should develop a feel on how deep you need to drill.

Re: semi glass
Question also, I have done plenty of verticle RV and Bus windshields that are pretty much easy access. My question is...on the long nose semi's how do you actually get access to work on the damage? Seems like it would be very hard to get to. Hey Brent, I see in your news letter that your an old dog when it comes to semi's, Any insight? Thanks in advance.

Most people pop the "hood," and stand on a tire, radiator hose, something.
Kidding...about the radiator hose.

Pop the hood. That's how I do it. Be prepared you will get filthy under the hood of those things. When I was younger and Lighter I would stand on the fender.
Re: semi glass
my easiest time to do a long nose semi was a little different/ they took
a forklift put me on an empty pallet/ lifted me up /drove next to truck
and worked off the pallet

Re: semi glass
I charge the same rate for a Semi that I do an RV just because it takes longer, I have to bring a boost (my fault im short) and make a few adjustments. We charge 75.00. and have no problem getting it. Dawn
