Well Scratchy,
With all that I see going on in the WSR business right now, especialy with insurance companies starting to not cover WSR anymore I see tons of opportunity. Personaly I think that you will see tons of people who where doing bad work getting out of the business. As in any industry you are going to see a gigantic flush. I personaly couldn't be happier. My own business is about to go through a massive change for the better. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. :)

What kind of change might you be referring to?

To expand a little on where we are at here in Texas. Things were hopping good last year and we hired a part time guy. We threw $4,000+ in the trash trying to make it work. He wanted us to take care of him and cater to his schedule and personal dysfunction. No Dice.
My wife and I have decided to keep it a husband/wife team, no bigger ever. Maybe add the kids when they are old enough. We can both go out of town as much as we need while one sticks around to take the calls. We take off three weeks a year and shut down the business. About 30% of the jobs we miss will wait till we get back. I am not pushing the insurance too hard but we still do about 40% insurance and then 60% cash.
We are almost all retail with a couple of fleets which call us as needed. One is a secret car test facility that has us do their prototype vehicles. COOL!
I would like soon to capitalize on the big RV's passing through town. My long term goal is to line up another business outside of the automotive market to run parallel to the windshield repair and balance out some of the ups and downs. If I can't figure something out I might want to get into doing some limited replacements as I get plenty of calls for that.
This business gives me a continuous education about the human species and enabled me to run into tons of people doing all kinds of different lines of work and lifestyles. Hopefully this "education" will help us hone this business and keep it thriving through the years. My dream is that 15 years from now we are still plugging along but with a couple of extra zeros in the checkbook.
Good luck Coitster.
