Goodbye Big Corporations!!!

Post by bill4117 »

ok i finally did it. I QUIT!!!!!! Take this low paying, screw the customer, hack and whack job and jam it!!!! whew that felt GREAT. I had enough, as of monday im on my own full swing. since ive been planning this for a long time i think im in good shape. trying to do top quality work at a big glass company is like going to a hurdle race in a wheel chair. (don't get offended it's only a joke) anyway i wanted to tell you guys ive been looking at past posts and i really got intregued while reading posts from coitster. he mentioned a book by Jay Conrad Levinson called guerrilla marketing. well i did some research and he has a website that is CHOCK FULL of unbelievable info on marketing strategies. the website is http://www.gmarketing.com (go to the articles section)and the info is free if you register a user name and password. to anyone stuck in a marketing rut, looking for fresh ideas, wanting to know how to read customers (why they make the choices they do), or just needing more ideas on how to get your name out there give this site a try.

thanks for the support. i know i speak for a lot of others when i say you guys on the forum and you also jeff take a lot of stress out of these type of moves. oh and coitster thanks so much for turning me on to mr levinson. his ideas and the ideas from you (small business parks) are going to go over very well in my area. if the wheelchair thing was a little over the top i appologize, it was the best way i could describe how much of an uphill battle being a cog in the gears of corperate america can be.

Even though I am one that works for the "bad guy big companys", I do like to see people chase their dreams. I wish you the best of luck & do sincerely wish you good fortune. See, even though I do work for a large company, I for one think there is enough business out there for all of us to survive. I'm not trying to become rich by being in this industry. I simply wish to do a good job, make a living for my family, & be happy. It sounds like we have the same insight on this & I truely hope that you are successful in this.........Hopefully you will be able to see this for yourself that not every person that works for companies are the enemy. I am like all of the rest of you & am just trying to survive.

Bill, you go man!!!!!

hey glassman thanks. i truly don't feel everyone in big corperations is the enemy but i do feel a lot of big corperations keep people with great ideas and insight fenced in and don't allow them to blossom. take for instance your companies relitively new policy about not letting vans idle while at customers places. i brought that idea to my company 2 years ago and was laughed out of the office because quote "we can't trust guys to give a care". now your company implemented the tactic a year ago and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars. i guess for me i need to take destiny into my own hands, if your company is going to offer you a good path to advancement grab on to it, some people make great upper management. i personally never worked and played well with others LOL. thank you for the vote of confidence it certainly helps.

In a previous life I worked for a consulting company. The owner defined a "good" consultant as "one who knew when good was good enough." He was referring to when to cease providing the client with "added value" information without being compensated for it. I disagreed with him and eventually left the company.

The point is...I believe in providing the best quality and customer service for a quoted fee regardless of the time or "added value" that I must deliver. I'm out there to make a dime, but I'm more concerned about making a happy customer.

Oh, well!
