In The Last Eight Years I Have Signed Over 60 Car Washes In The Az/ca Market For Several Large Glass Companies. I Would Re-think The Shopping Center Idea And Focus On Adding Your Service To A Pre-existing Service Center! Such As A Car Wash, Oil & Lube, Tire Shop, Which Ever You Decide/ Research The Traffic/customer And Then Set A Goal Such As 1 For 10,15,20, Break The Goal Down Into $ And Then Decide The Rent. 3-6 Per Job Is A Great Method/used In The Az/ca Market And It Works Very Well!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Do you think I could get away with setting up an agreement were I would not have to give some money in advance? Like you said 3-6 per job and I would pay at the end of the day? Has anyone had success with that?

thanks

When I first started doing a car wash years and years ago (one of the biggest mistakes of my life) I would pay at the end of the day. Oh man was the car wash a nightmare idea. I am completely against doing chips at car wash's. 99.999999999999% of all chips done at car wash's are bad. Most people that work at car wash's don't stick around for more then a few weeks. The repairs stink and personaly (I know there are exceptions to this rule) most of the companies that do that run scams. They fix little pits and call them chips or have virtualy no training for their techs.

I know someone out there is going to respond to this and say that they have the ideal situation... sure you do. Personaly I would stay away from car wash's like a plague of Ebola.

A tent on the side of the road can work, but don't do it everyday, only do like 2 or 3 days a week max. Try to pay off a percentage of the job, like 5 to 11 dollars per job. So if you are a real tent guy (I am not) then get a few locations to work from.

I was planning on only doing it a few days a week. I just thought the human society would be a good idea,, plus I love animals :) I planned on 10 dollars per job but have not talked to them yet. I was thinking if they agree to run some small adds to help promote the idea for both. Car wash never sounded like a good idea to me at all. Seems there would be a major moisture problem unless you catch them before they go in to wash. Don't like that idea so I know I wouldn't do that.

thanks

Well Tooldini, what can I tell you? Here are the facts:
I signed a 6 month lease with somewhat busy mall. I have to pay in advance, meaning I pay on the 1st of April for an entire April month. I pay 800 a month.
If I can turn back the time, I would of not get into the tent business. I am currently working on some other ways to get business. It is too expansive, and the manger of the mall is mean. I got into fight with her, lol but that

I am a tent guy or i was one up to about a month ago anyways i was paying $300 a month at a Canadian Tire store. i would walk the parking lot and look for damage and place a tag card on the windshield inviting the customer for a free repair. And you never know when you will get busy even in the rain the only time i go home is when its -25 or colder or when its snowing hard and acumulating. Here mobile doesn't seem to work. Customers want to come to you even if its a tent but you must fly the flag religously even in crappy weather. People want to know its not some fly night business especially when they want to get a hold of you Post hrs and stick to them

Thanks Clearview,, I bet you will be surprised once the weather breaks there. here in Michigan it has broke and we are getting mostly sunny and in the upper 50's-60 range. I have the tent already and banner and folding table and everything. Just need to secure a location. There is a party store owner I am gonna contact. There store has a large mostly emptly lot on a street that is bumper to bumper most all day. I am getting several calls a week for insurance work also. I don't like dealer work so I am keeping away from that LOL. Thanks for any advice I appreciate it.

coitster,
i don't think it matters wherte you do buisness. i think it matters how you do buiness. a car wash is a brilliant place to do windshield repair if you do it ethically. you wrote on another post that you were very good at marketing
your repair buisness. you call telemarketing a good way to market?
