What the heck is happening here????

Ok, I've got a really strange situation. I started doing repairs late in 2005 after attending Delta's (awesome) free training in Eugene. I then purchased delta equipment to do the repairs.

I did probably 40+ repairs, bullseyes, stars, combo's and even a couple tough RV repairs, without a problem. Actually, the toughest time I had was thinking my probes were broken, because I didn't know you had to unscrew the ends and flip them around before using

Now after all these repairs, the last 4 or 5 I've done, the bridge has "un-suctioned" itself during the repair and fallen down the windshield. This never happened in the first 40+ repairs. Now it's happening every time!

I'm doing everything the same. It seems to me, the only thing that has changed is the weather (it's 90 degrees now instead of 70) and the equipment has been used a little more. This is really, really frustrating me, as you can imagine.

Any thoughts on why this is happening all of a sudden?

I had this problem once after I took the plunger a part to clean the bridge assembly. You can actually pull out the plunger and you need to make sure you have it all the way back in or you will lose your suction. Just take your finger and push the plunger in as far as it goes applying a little pressure to ensure it is in far enough. If this doesn't help, call Delta's excellant tech support. They stand behind their equipment so other than any obvious neglect I'm sure they can resolve the issue and have you up again in no time.

Definitely call us for tech support. There is a little piece of the pump that goes into the suction cup. Sounds like it's possibly broken. Give us a call and we can get it switched out for you!

Unscrew your legs more so you can get a better suction grip and forget to clean the shield and equiptment....

These are Woods Powergrip cups. The plunger can be pulled out. You will see on the end of the plunger there is a black cupped seal that draws the vacuum. This need to be lightly lubricated with a silicone based (lightweight) grease. The inner cylinder can also be cleaned. Be careful of the very end of the cylinder. This is where the valve of the unit is located. It is a thin membrane flapper type valve. AS the plunger is pushed in the flap is pushed (by the air pressure created by the piston seal) down against the membrane, forcing the increased pressure out around the piston seal (look at the piston seal, see its tapered) Now when the piston is released the spring pushed the plunger out. The seal on the plunger now seals against the cylinder creating a vacuum inside the cylinder. The flapper is now drawn out from the membrane allowing air under the suction cup to be drawn into the pump. It
