Types of pit filler?

K. so can we remove this product and make a successful repair or are we going to have to turn these repairs down.I have a buddy whos brother used to work at a G.M. dealership in london and said that whenever a customer complained of squeeky chattery wipers they would just put in a G.M. washer fluid containing rainex...problem solved. Sounds like we have got to work around this stuff as I think this stuff is here to stay.So the question is how do we work around this stuff? Can we use some sort of wax and silicone remover like I used to use when preping a car for painting back in my autobody days?

The problem with the washer fluid is it actually runs into the damage each time they use it. I know that your waisting your time on a crack and I see no way to clean out the damage before hand.

I'm not sure if it will affect a bullseye as much as a star but then you still have the pit issue.

I know delta's web site has a few methods on how to remove this stuff from the surface. I remember reading something about it.

With the pit : it takes me about 3 tries to get the pit filler to stick it will eventually stick

the best way to fill these large pits is to first score around it with your drill and they add a thick resin or pit fill resin....i've never had a problem with them not sticking to the glass....even with rain-x on it. by scoring it it gives the resin something to stick to.

This is something I do to. I will clean the pit out with my drill BEFORE doing the repair. Doing it after ruins the bit. I will also do this on and old break where the pit looks dirty. I just find the finished result looks better.

My question about pit filler is there a filler that polishes to a better clarity? I use mechanics fill and some times the clarity isn't that good, or for the people that use the resin to fill does that polish to a good clarity. What do some of you use for the rock chips, I did a car yesterday and it had a few chips and I used the pit filler and from the inside of the car they look like water spots. Any suggestions? Thanks

A polished pit will normally look like a water spot on the glass. It's your responsibility to pre-inform and educate customer prior to repair of these!

Any ideas why many times after I scrape my pit there usually seems to be one edge that is kinda peeling up a little bit. Sometimes I can't seem to make this go away. I hold my blade correctly at 90 degrees. This seems to be happening since I ran out of my blades from glasweld. I have bought several other kinds of blades and they all seem to make this happen. Could it be something that I am doing? Also these new blades make it hard to create a good shine on my pit.

I just got a sample of delta kits pit filler to try. My job referrals took a crap over mothers day weekend so I can't try till tomorrow morning on a real customer hopefully turns out well.
