franchise opperations

Post by Bruno »

Hi, I am a newbe to WS repair in southern Ontario, and am looking for a solid way too start my business. I recently saw an add for a master franchise opp for WS repair. My question does WS repair lend itself well to franchises, are there advantages to such a system, or are stand-alone busnesses better? I read in the past posts from repair-breese that it seemed to work for him, but he has not been active here in the last few months, and I think he is the one selling the master franchise in ONT, the contact number is in Quebec. Has anyone seen his system, his repairs ect, I currently am using DK products.Any insight would be of help.

I am currently a franchisee int he UK. I find it works well here. I pay a small percentage to my franchiser, but for that......... I submit all invoices to him, he chases all claims and I get resupplied when I need fresh equipment, resins, blades, etc, at no further cost to me. It also helps to be in a family where others pass on ideas and get contracts in their areas, leading to similar contracts in my area. Take you choice, join a franchise or not, there are fores and againsts.

I looked into this route here in southern Ontario and am putting the idea on hold right now as a franchise agreement is a 2 way street and you have to justify that you are getting as much as you are paying into it.Also a franchise agreement can limit your freedoms with respect to equipment choices, business approach, attire and territory.also if you are going to pay alot of money for franchise rights then you need to get name recognition .I previuosly pursued this idea for a new courier franchise that started up in southern ontario last year and I almost bought into it but I could not get much support from people that i needed to help me get rolling because of purcieved lack of name recognition and track record. However I have talked to Yvan (repare brise) and his business model looks really good (I use him as a mentor now) if he can offer that level of support in Ontario that he gives his franchisees in Quebec.
