Delta's Drill bits or burrs

Post by GlasWeldTech »

Hi all,
Jeff was so kind to send me some samples of all their drill bits and I will report on my findings so far.
FG-701:
This bit is better than what I currently use and I will say I get my burs from out of Florida. Those that are oldies here will know from whom they are down there. I buy them 100 at a time. Delta's FG-701 has gotten a lot of use from me and they ONLY sent me one of each to try out.
12-2S or 12-25 I can't really decipher this hand writing on the package. It is also good but looks like it leaves a bigger hole to hide than the FG-701.
The FG-701 will skip if you do not start it at a 45 degree angle to start with. These are the only 2 that I have tried out yet but will continue to test the others when one wears out. Also have to start the 12-2s at an angle.
Jeff has been trying to convert me over but he hasn't sent any injector over to try YET? I keep trying to get him to let me field test one of these. I currently have 5 of MY brand and usually all 5 are going.
I deal mainly with fleet accounts but I also do all of our repairs and also all for another local glass company here. I drill every repair and before you start with the bashing I WAS TAUGHT NOT TO DRILL!!!! HOWEVER, doing fleet work it hasn't been a problem and I can hide the hole from the bur. I should say I drill about 85% of all repairs. I still do a great repair but for me this is the way I have decided to go.
I have also started buying the Magnibond by the liter and would advise all that deal with a volume of business to think about this!!!
I have even tried to get new techs from Australia (JASON) last week, to really pick the brain of Jeff while at training.
Now if Jeff will send me some old worn out returned injectors to field test I will state the results here. WHAT DO YOU THINK JEFF?

The FG-701L is as good as the regular 701 only longer and it took some getting used to. It appears at first it may be brittle but that didn't prove to be the case. It is still going.

All of the test bits that Jeff sent me to try have lasted longer than the ones that I currently buy now. The FG-169L is the smallest bur (tip) I have ever seen. My next order of bits will be from Delta.

According to Delta's site and description on burs, all the burs you have mentioned are supposed to have the same specifications.
