Curing Tape
Curing Tape
Who has the best curing tape to use for long cracks? I have some some GT and it is a pain to use; the sides curl up and if the wind is blowing, forget it! I usually try to use long curing strips made from projector sheets.
Re: Curing Tape
souchie...thats the way i will be doing it too.Projector sheets from business depot and deltas cure film works good too.I too am familiar with the curling up dilema of some other peoples tape and can't figure who can use that crap.

Re: Curing Tape
Since we're on the subject I have some curing tape I got DK awhile back that I like (it was gold in color when still wrapped on the spool). when I ordered more later it's white or clear looking on the spool and seems to be a thinner mil. Maybe if Jeff reads this post he'll have the answer.
Re: Curing Tape
I've heard of techs using cigarette pack wrappers in an emergency, but can't imagine anything that thin being easy to use. The heavier the better, for me. Just make sure that whatever you use, it allows the UV to come thru full-strength.

Re: Curing Tape
We had one batch of the "clear looking" curing tape. Unfortunately our mfg "adjusted" the ingredients a bit without telling us. Although it works, it doesn't tear nearly as easily.sunshine wr wrote:Since we're on the subject I have some curing tape I got DK awhile back that I like (it was gold in color when still wrapped on the spool). when I ordered more later it's white or clear looking on the spool and seems to be a thinner mil. If you still have some of it around, give us a call on Monday and we'll replace it free of charge. Sorry, I must have just skimmed this thread. I can't read everything you know!

Re: Curing Tape
Just a question people, wouldn't clear packing tape work? It's clear, it's cheap and it sticks.
Re: Curing Tape
I would think the glue and resin would mix together and not cause good things. And if you tried to use the the non-sticky side you'd have a devil of a time getting it off your fingers.
Along time ago I would use acetate page protectors. Those always worked, I could steal them from work and I got a good bit of useage out of them. Now though, I'll stick to the curing tape since it doesn't stick to the resin as much as the curing tabs do.
