Flaking Repairs!!

Hello All,
I had a chance to look at a couple of repairs that I had done a few months ago. To my suprise I noticed that the pit fill was flaking up around the edges. I called tech support immediatley, they said that it was probably something in the detergent that they were using. I find it hard to believe since I scrape out the pit real good. (hum is that the problem?) Or Could it be that I don't wipe off the excess resin before I put the pit fill on? I give my repairs more than enough time to cure so I know that isn't the problem. I'm using quality equipment with quality resins.
I haven't had anyone call me on this issue yet and I don't want them to start so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and another thing, what would be the best way to repair the repairs that are flaking.

I would imagine that most of us suffer from this if we were honest and I have not got a clue why it happens. We have tried most things to prevent it.

The best way to redo it is to just clean around the edge with your drill and pit fill again.

When selling repair do not over sell, tell the customer there might be some reappearence but that the damage will not spread once it is done.

I have not seen this paticular flacking problem as of yet. This not to say that it has not happened on older repairs we have done and have not seen since as there are alot of them. What I have seen is with some of our older repairs is kind of an erossion of the pit resin. Not sure what really can be done to prevent this as this area is constantly exposed to the elements and just like the glass takes a beating.

What Do You Use That For ? I Quess What I Mean Is , After I Fill My Break With Resin, And Take My Injector Off Of The Brake, I Just
Drop More Of The Same Resin That I Just Injected With Into The
Brake And Top It With Solifain Plastic, I Dont Use Pit Filler. That
Just Dry The Resin With Uv. Feal Me In Please

some use the pit filler all the time to finish I like you just top the thing off with a cure tab. I do use the pit filler when the damage on the outside is big and the thinner resin runs out.

Thank You Screenman for your honesty. I'll take this into consideration when selling wsr. I do wish there was something else that could be done to prevent this from happening. I seen that and I felt like such a hack.
Maybe Delta Kits will send me some More sample resins, I never got a chance to test their resins, because they sent them in white bottles with different colored caps and me being the bright soul that I am got them mixed up!! OOps!!!

Curious, do you drill?

The only long term test results I've been able to see are the chips in my windshield. They were the first three repaired with my new kit in March of this year. I have not had any problems with flaking, discoloration or erosion. All three repairs are in the wiper sweep area and have been through snow, hail, freezing rain and 100+ temps so far.

Other results I get to see one a weekly basis are the ones I've fixed at work which are close to a dozen and none of them I've noticed any adverse affects from time.

Something else to make you go, hmmm.
