New Mylar That Resin Wont Stick To !

Post by FREENCLEAR »

I Placed A Thread 1-2 Months Ago About Thick Sticking To The Mylars. 120 Degrees 60% Humidity

Well I Had This Problem In The Coachella Valley "palm Springs, Ca." And Not In Arizona Or Northern California It Was Strange So I Started Experimenting And I Found The Perfect Mylar !

The Clear Sheet Protecters From Any Office Store ! The Resin Will Not Stick To This Material In Any Climate This Stuff Is Great You Don't Even Need To Clean Them.

Try It, I Purchased One Box Of 100 And A Small Page Cuter And Two Pages Later And I Have A Ton Of Cheap Mylars In Any Size, Each Individual Tech. Wants.

I Also Save A Lot Of Money By Doing This !

Sorry To Carry On But This Stuff Works Great ! Jm

Freenclear, have you noticed any slow down in curing the repair with UV light? Some of the sheets have UV protection.

sorry, slow response i was working fri.-sat. are my busy days !

just store name brand "the cheap ones" they feel soft and if anything it speeds up the curing time because the mylar will peel clean away from the windshield leaving all resin ! i'm in love ! i have 13 techs. that repair 6-12 shields a day and everyone of them love it !

also it's great to cut long strip-like pieces for crack repair.

one other tip a wine cork works great to message the glass for cracks/stars !

Most In The Glass Bus. Look Down On Glass Guys In The Car Wash Retail.

Which They Should I've Come Across Some---------.

It's The Best Way To Market Yourself, 1 Sales Tech That Talks To Every Customer At The Vaccume Lanes "front Line" At The Car Wash.
1 Service Writer To Make Ins. Call & Explain In More Detail, & 1 Repair Tech. On The Dry Off Lane. This Is The Only Way To Work The Car Wash And Insure The Customer Is Taken Care Of Properly. They Have Aprox. 35-1hr At The Car Wash So As Long As The Customer Is Explained Everything In Detail And The Work Is Performed Properly The Car Wash Is By Far The Best Way To Generate Glass Buis.

The Bad Thing Is The Guys That Call Them Selfs "glass Guys" Who Skip All These Steps "don't Explain, Poor Repair" Give The Car Wash Glass Guys A Bad Name.

You Can Also Work A Car Wash Yourself I'd Pick A Lower Car Count Like 180-300 Cars Per Day If You Work It Yourself. The Team Listed Above Is For A Wash That Does 300-1000 Cars Per Day.

My Company Ratio Is 1 Ins.card Per 10 Cars That Pass Through The Wash. Do The Math 300 Cars = 30 Ins. Cards This Takes A Great Salesman So Don't Expect This Ratio At First. But In Time.

I Also Have To Shops 1 In Az 1 In South Ca. & 1 Opening In Northern Ca.

Just curious with all the car wash business you've acquired. Do you provide these repairs before or after car is washed?

we train our techs. to repair before the wash cycle to avoid any moisture.
if time becomes an issue we seal the chip with tape & repair after the wash cycle.

our techs. circle any damage with dry erase markers while the wash writes the customer up for hi/her wash then we point out the damage.

most customers know fnc is present and come in when they recieve damage.
damage is everywhere in the desert !

When I first got started, we used acetate pages and those worked really well. I don't recall any reson ever sticking but only after alot of use.

6 years later its a different story as I stick to the tape. I find it very versatile and I can use the same piece a few times on the same windshield if needed.

Tape or cure tab?

Well if your working a very small pit, cure tape will work fine.

However on larger pits...cure tape doesn't work so well! It's too flexible and will always leave a sub surface cap. (a divet)

All caps should be flush with windshield and always polished to promote better cosmetic appearance.
