I'm using curing tape.
I finish my repairs in this order and have been having excellent results.
Fill repair and before I remove the injector I dab some thicker resin across the top to prevent air from seeping back in. After this cures, I peel off the tape (usually left intact), scrape off that resin and then apply a dab of pit filler neccessary to fill the resulting small divet. Scrape that smooth and then polish.
