Money saving ideas?

Post by rescue »

Hi everyone. I'm just starting out in the mobile repair business with my brand new kit.

It just occured to me that the bottle of suction cup lube is awfully small. Has anyone tried using hair gel as lube? It seems to have about the same feel and consistency - for a lot less money.

Any other cost saving ideas? Resources to buy inexpensive supplies?

Thanks!

The way to make the job cheaper is to do more repairs. The cost per repair is not worth trying to save on. There are many substitutes for suction cup gel, make sure if your bridge has a pump up system it will not clog the valve.

I use a different repair system but a suction attachment is a suction attachment. I use glass cleaner. It's never failed me.

I use the cheapest hand lotion I can get from Wal-Mart.

Hair Gel? boy I wish I had a need for that stuff. I don't have much hair left.

But plain old glass cleaner on the suction cup works for me.

I favor the lotion over the water or glass cleaner as it keeps the bridge mobile if needed and I think it keeps the suction cups soft and pliable and any excess resin that may get on the cups does not seem to be damaging them yet.
