I would think twice about going back to the same place that wants to just replace your windshield. It might be worth your time to find a private reoair only guy or a shop that will repair it.

And thanks for letting me use those pictures, they are much better than anything I've been taking. I'm using a Sony DSC-V1 which doesn't do so well at focusing on glass.

Mike try adding the money on the glass trick and see what u get. Your camera may be performing better than u think, it just sees thru the glass and focus's accordingly.

Oh and there are a lot of good techs in the portland area, VCi15 Just ask around the dealer lots for a tech but buy direct.

I'm with sgt on this one.If the repair area falls in what I like to call the liability area; the 9x11 area directly in front of the driver I would tread lightly on this one.I would make sure it was a fresh uncontaminated dry break to make sure I have the best chance of pulling a 95% repair off.

This repair would would require pre-explanation to customer about cosmetics
results prior to repairing. It is very close to drivers viewing 8" x12" area.

Cone fracture is somewhat severe and it looks like it may have left some permanant damage to lami.(a imprint) You can see that with flowering. Can this damage be repaired? Of course it can!!! Are cosmetics going to be acceptable in this area of acute vision? Not sure! No way of determining that until repair is filled,cured and completed. At that point it all depends with the customer!

i think we all agree that it is certainly repairable.. to most of us a normal repair.. that said if you tell the customer up front that their will be some scarring and that it should look at least 80% better if they are happy with that explanation.. do the repair.. i would not however put the thought in their mind that if they dont like it they wouldnt have to pay..that just opens it up to discussion about payment and their will be some who will use that to get a free repair, you did you job therefore you should get paid..dont forget 50 0r 60 dollars is not a lot of money compared to other service businesses

I think they were right. That chip is too large for the location that it is in. It looks to me that it is in the drivers direct line of sight. If it was somewhere else on the window I would fix it no problem.
