Hi Jared,

You do know those are rechargeable, right? You should get a good weeks worth of use out of it if you're doing up to 5-10 repairs a day. Are you not getting that? If not, call for tech support. Also, make sure you follow charging directions.

In answer to your question though, some people use car battery jumper dealies (that's a technical term) that would certainly carry more juice than the ones we use.

Huh? yeah maybe the batt i have is going bad. i charge it every night for about 8-10 hrs and it works maybe 2 full days doing about 4-5 repairs per day. when charging i should charge with the switch at 12v not 6v correct? I will try and see exactly how many repairs i can get out of it, if i have any issues i will call you guys for tech support. Thanks Jeff.....

12volt, yes. 8-10hrs is too long to charge. Doesn't matter though, give us a call and we can swap it out for you. With the new one, make sure to check the instructions for charging.

Generally speaking... rechargable batteries carry the longest life when allowed to be used up and put on a full charge, then used up and put on a full charge, etc etc. A battery (any battery) that is charged on a daily basis will soon have a shorter life compared to one that is allowed to deplete and receive a full charge.

In other words, the fewer the charging cycles, the longer the battery will last overall.

That goes for cell phones too.

I have recently bought one of those portable jump start battery packs. It has a cigarette lighter plug, a battery charge level indicator, a built in mains and car charger, a small compressor (for pumping wheels) and a light. Then on top of it all you can jumpstart your vehicle! Nice carrying handle and not too big.

I mostly use it on the 24volt trucks, to prevent blowing my drier and UV lights! It also works well when you cannot get 12 volt close or on the vehicle you are repairing. It lasts fairly long, but I have not really timed it. Above all it is quite inexpensive for what you get. Maybe DK could put this on their stock as an alternative.

I use these, they hold a good charge. just add a 12 volt plug. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=36876. My light is 1 amp so I get 9 hours of operation time after around 7-8 hours I recharge.
