1st insurance job!! please help....

Post by all starr »

o.k so today i went to do my 1st insurance job. it was a 2004 ford focus with 2 repairs 1 star, 1 bulls. i am alrready signed up with safelite and lynx, as well as e-direct. it is now a little late this evening to call e-direct for my first walk thru and to answer these questions, so i thought i would come here first.

so the client had AIG ins (full cov) so i thought i was doing the right thing by calling lynx because Aig is listed under their network, but the lady at lynx said that they could not auth the repair, that i needed a dispach or claim # first from the ins company themself(AIG)?? Is that right? i thought all we had to do was call the network. well so anyway I had the client call his ins company and after 20 minutes and 7 differnt transfers they issued a claim # and a billing address and fax #. Is this standard operating procedure?

What do most of you do when calling in a claim? what do you say, and who do you call.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice

Sincerely,

Jared

call the number (usually an 800 #) on the insurance card, not lynx. you will be directed from the ins. company to lynx. They will take care of the rest. If you mention you are part of Edirect, AIG can send all the info, except for the VIN#, to edirect, where when you log in afterwards you will find it as a "new assignment." You might get charged for that now though, Im not sure. ...edirect's walkthrough will help you out the best.

Pbaker is right. You need to call the insurance company, not Lynx. Every insurance company is deferent, but once you call, you will need to select New Claim option. Then just follow voice commands, and you will reach a representative. Tell them right away you are with a SO and SO shop, onsite with a customer... That

o.k, great. I wonder why did e-direct sent me a list of ins companies with with the network phone #'s. Will I ever really need to contact the network if I am signed up with them now, and since i will bill thru e-direct? Thanks so much for your help, i will be callling e-direct this morning, but out of curiosity, what does SO stand for? Thanks again.

o.k so i called today and left a message for Tony at e-direct. he called me back and we started going over the system and entering my first invoice. Well apparently when speaking with AIG yesterday, they only gave me a claim # not a dispach and some other id # that was supposed to be given, so we had to stop short with our walkthru and i must call back tomorrow to lynx and ask them to give me the correct #'s for invoicing. Weird, I am hoping this is just some mix up with AIG and that all the rest go easy. just wanted to keep you posted. Thanks again for all your support everyone..

Usually if the ins. co is listed on your Lynx list just call the 800#and Lynx will do the rest now if it is thru Safelite be prepared for a lot longer process because they can be a B.I.T.A. especially if the ins.co. is Progressive or Geico.
When you are ready to send in your invoice for Lynx jobs I use GlasComp, they only charge $2.25 per invoice and for Safelite go to their web site and file on line for nothing.

All Starr, AIG has several different types of insurance coverages. LYNX handles AIG Personal Lines Auto. AIG also insures personal & company leased vehicles where claims are handled through Harmon Solutions (another network). You may have encountered this type of situation. Best to use the 800# on ins. card.

o.k, so i already have 2 more issues. i must be having bad luck or doing something wrong. so it started with 21 century, where i called them direct and they issued me a number, but e-direct says its not a referral # its a claim #. so i call safelite as i was intructed by e-direct, and they tell me they have no info to call 21st again, so i call 21st and they tell me i can only fax or mail them the bill, and that they have nothing to do with safelite.if that was not enough, i have another client with state farm, full coverage. so i call the agents # on the card, because there was no other number. the agent then tells me i have to call lynx and they will handle it. so now i call lynx, and they tell me they no longer waive deductibles for repair. Well 3 out of 3 have had issues. i just hope things get a bit easier. Any advice out there about certain networks, and or ins companies that i should know anything more about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million.
