Canadian winter mobile repairs

This may not be a problem for those living in warmer climates, but it gets darn cold up here in Canada during the Winter months.
Has anybody had any luck using some sort of portable heating device/s such as radiant heaters, portable vehicle enclosure etc. , while performing outdoor mobile windshield crack/chip repairs.
