For those who own/use tents

Post by OmNi »

So I bought a tent as another source of advertisement while doing repairs, but it seems like more of a pain than I was imagining. :eusa_thin

1. How long does it take for you to set up the tent
2. What

Personaly I love my EZup Tent. I use it all the time. I will use it when its too hot or just if I don't want the sun on the car (I cover my chips anyway). Anyway I lettered my tent. On all four sides it says "Long Crack and Chip Repair". It works good for advertising when I am already working on a job. I get lots of people coming out of their offices and asking me to look at their cars. I love it. I don't however have a permanent set up for tent location. I don't do those.

Coitster,

Do you actually set up your tent to do a single repair? How big is your tent?

I ask because I too have purchased a tent but have not used it yet. Im looking for a week-end gig to set up. I stick with mobile service repair, but would like to try the week-end tent to see how it goes.

To answer your question yes I will set up a tent for a single repair. You would not believe how much extra business it draws in for me. People see it and ask me question. Thats what I want. Now I don't do this for every customer but most of them I do.

I use a 10' X 10' tent (EZ-Up) for my weekend location. It takes about 10 minutes to set up but I secure it with tie downs, etc. because it can get windy. I don't use it for single repairs. For me it would be difficult to set up without staking one leg down for support while I lock the other 3 legs into place. And then to move the tent over the car. No!
