Pit not filling in all the way

I need some help, I put in the filler, cure it, then when I use the razor blade (at a 45 degree angle) and scrap off the resin there is still a little bit of a pit left. I have even tried filling it twice. Ideas?

Proper way to scrape pit filler after curing is at 90 degree angle with razor blade.
To acquire better finish you should also polish after scraping. Try using this method and let us know if problem is resolved.

I have done it at 90 degree but it still leaves a little pit....Maybe I should try curing longer. Also the pit isnt really clear, its almost like a light grey.

Like Starqwest mentioned, scrape at 90 deg., make sure the blade is sharp as well. Also make sure you are not pushing down on your curing tabs or tape, just let it rest gently. You are using tabs right? If you are not you will just have a mound that will not mill down easily and more than likely chip off leaving the pit open. Make sure you are using enough resin to cover the pit and surrounding area slightly. Also like you said make sure you have a full cure. Depending on the size of the pit, location and shape of windshield some may require a little more work.

As for the pit area looking grey, are you buffing it? It will look slightly off though and depending on the size of the pit may be more or less noticable. Remember, repairs do not disappear but if done properly some can be damn hard to find. Good luck.

Could that little bit of a pit be half of an air bubble?
If so, re-apply a tiny amount of pit filler and work it into the hole with a needle until no air bubble is present. Next apply cure tab etc.

CrackFixKy, I agree with what has been said, but there may be another force at play here...

Is it possible that the windshield has had any kind of water repellant applied such as rain-ex or similar product.

I have done several repairs that go very smoothly up until scaping the pit. The pit filler would not bond to the glass because of a presence of Rainex or similar product. Sometimes just applying a second application of pit filler and curing it won't help either. So take your dremel and buffing wheel and buff the pit area to remove the Rainex in that area, then re-apply your pit filler and cure as usual.

Hello, I find that the pit filler comes partly off with the curing tap. When this happens I put a little dab of my denatured alcohol that I have in my kit around the outside of the pit and try again. This has always worked for me.

I have come across several times people using a spraywax and it gets on the windshield. when I try and pit fill it just won't stick. I then rub with a little denatured alcohol and then it works fine. I haven't had any problems with this yet. I did it on a classic show car and the repair ended up looking incredible and still does.
